More MIXTURE reviews!

Hey, some people are saying some nice things about the album. Sure is nice to hear after all the work we put into this project!

Joey Stuckey is an accomplished blind jazz guitarist ably joined on this album by renowned keyboardist Tom Rule, percussion masters Miguel Castro and Marcus Reddick, and reeds guru Monty Cole.

For a cat that started out in classical guitar, he's turned into a riffing shredder that can choogle along the lines of anyone from Frank Zappa to Al diMeola. With the heart of a commercial jazzbo, Stuckey is immersed in a musical lifestyle that appears to let his work become his play and gives back the enjoyment of the freedom it gives him. Not limiting himself, he revels in showing off his versatility to the point where it feels like this is a cool radio station you tripped over by accident and are glad. Heady stuff guitar geeks will love.

MIXTURE review from The Netherlands

Joey Stuckey’s CD is quite special and filled with surprises. I really like the jazzy spills on it with the virtuosity on the guitar by Joey, truly makes it an asset to the program.

Don't forget that MIXTURE is available from CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon, and other fine online retailers. ALL of the charts from MIXTURE are available over at MacMusicGuy.com

@CriticalJazz: Joey Stuckey Mixture Senate Records 2012

@CriticalJazz: Joey Stuckey Mixture Senate Records 2012

Over at Critical Jazz magazine they had some very nice things to say about MIXTURE:
  • Stuckey is that rare artist that can touch your heart and set your hair on fire simultaneously.
  • ...an impressive hybrid of jazz, fusion, with that smoldering southern sound reminiscent of Muscle Shoals bubbling just beneath the surface.
  • The opening track is the only vocal on the release and laid down nicely by Pam Rule.
  • The band is rock solid....
  • Closing out the release we get the funkier side of Stuckey, clean and precise with the finesse of a surgeon and the melodic heart of a poet.

THIS JUST IN:

Mixture is the most popular new jazz CD for the week among new albums on jazz stations. It was the #1 most added jazz cd at the CMJ Jazz panel.
